First Impressions

Today I had a client call me who recently set up a date through a matchmaking agency. She was upset when she learned that her first impression to her prospective date was less than favorable.  He thought she came off as unintelligent.  When I saw how angry and offended she was, I suggested she use his reaction as a self-study and learn from it.  Sometimes beautiful women in an attempt to be friendly and open, "dumb themselves down" to seem less intimidating to men.  I also advised her that this may be the reason she has attracted men in the past who are only interested in her for sex.  I encouraged her to make a change.  From now on, she is to approach initial meetings with men in a more reserved, intelligent fashion.  There is no need to be so open and show all your cards so quickly.  Men like mystery; they want to chase and hunt and unwrap you gradually so they don't lose interest.  If you want a man to take you seriously, be serious.  Have respect for yourself and show off your intelligence. Pick topics you are well versed in. Be the expert on things you know and he will immediately watch you sparkle as a witty conversationalist with something to say.  First impressions go a long way.  Don't blow it girls, you may not get a second chance.
